Northern Cyprus
Cyprus is divided into 2 separate countries: Northern Cyprus - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), occupied by Turkish Cypriots and Southern Cyprus- Republic of Cyprus, occupied by Greek Cypriots.
Our wedding will take place in Kyrenia (Girne), Northern Cyprus. Northern Cyprus is a beautiful place with wonderful beaches, a vibrant history and delicious food. It is less commercialised than Southern Cyprus and a bit more rural, but there is lots to do! English is also widely spoken in Northern Cyprus.

Currency
The currency in Northern Cyprus is the Turkish Lira; this is better value from the Euro in Southern Cyprus- yippee! Major credit cards are accepted in most shops and hotels. There are lots ATMs on the Island too. It is not necessary to bring lots of Turkish Lira with you, in our experience you get a better rate of exchange in Northern Cyprus than you do in UK. You can easily exchange money at supermarkets and banks in Northern Cyprus. Sterling notes (£10 and over) are also widely accepted as payment in hotels, restaurants and supermarkets.
Weather
May is the start of the summer season and the average temperatures for this time of year is 27 °C. We would recommend buying sun lotion in the UK because it is much more expensive in North Cyprus. You may also need to use mosquito repellent this time of year.
